Limone Sorbetto and Earl Grey Gelato

With all the hype surrounding Bella Gelateria in the last couple of months, Rachel and I decided to taste the popular gelato and sorbet for ourselves. To no surprise, Rachel and I were greedy and decided to choose two different flavours each.

Limone Sorbetto and Earl Grey Gelato

Rachel ordered the Earl Grey Gelato and the Limone Sorbetto. The Earl Grey Gelato was surprisingly smooth and the Earl Grey Tea flavour was subtle but could definitely be tasted in every bite. However, the same could not be said for the Limone Sorbetto. All that we could taste from the Limone Sorbetto was a very strong sour flavour. We felt that the strength of the sourness in the sorbetto covered the natural lemon flavours.

Rose Water Sorbetto and Hazelnut Gelato

I ordered the Rose Water Sorbetto and the Hazelnut Gelato. I enjoyed the Hazelnut Gelato very much. The rich flavour of hazelnut combined with creaminess of the gelato complemented each other very well. Again the texture of the gelato was exceptionally smooth. The texture of the Rose Water Sorbetto, I didn’t enjoy so much. There are thin vermicelli mixed into the sorbet, which a worker at Bella Gelateria informed me was a traditional way of making Italian sorbet. However, I didn’t feel like the vermicelli added to the sorbet as the texture of the vermicelli did not mix well with the icy texture of the sorbet. For a side note, the rose water flavour was very pronounced and I did enjoy it.

From my first taste of Bella Gelateria, I felt that the items on menu from Bella Gelateria were a bit hit and miss. As of my initial impression I would only give it a 6.5 out of 10.
